The Rescue in Color system is composed of a nylon bag designed with magnetized back and non-slip material so it can be displayed on metallic surfaces, white boards, chalk boards, the outside of AED boxes, fire extinguishers, school buses, etc. There’s also a handle at the top if you’d rather hang it from a hook. The RIC bag has a bidirectional zipper with a loop sewn to the inside so it can be opened with a single pull by grabbing the handle and the loop. This cuts fine motor control out of the equation. The instructions in the front pocket identify the RIC kit and provide step by step guidance on how to address injuries. We’ve laminated the instructions page so it will still be legible in poor weather conditions or if blood is introduced. Most importantly, the instructions are color coded with the contents inside the bag. The combination of color coding and easy to follow instructions allow students and staff members with limited training the best chance of success during a life-threatening emergency.

In this version, we’ve included two tourniquets to manage more than one patient, more than one extremity, or a larger limb requiring wider pressure application. This kit also replaces standard gauze with QuickClot gauze. The QuickClot gauze is a white, sterile non-woven gauze impregnated with kaolin, an inert mineral that does not generate heat. Effective and simple to use when trying to control life-threatening hemorrhage from wounds not amenable to tourniquet application.
